Delete your Fitnesta account

Effective and last updated:

You can delete your Fitnesta account at any time, in the app or by email. This page explains how, and exactly what happens to your information.

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open the Fitnesta app and sign in.
  2. Open Account settings. As a member, tap Profile, then Settings, then Account settings. In a personal trainer or business workspace, tap Me, then Account settings.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Optionally, tell us why you are leaving.
  5. Type DELETE to confirm, tap Delete my account, and confirm again.

You are signed out as soon as the deletion completes.

Ask us by email

If you cannot use the app, email support@fitnesta.com with the subject “Account deletion request”. Send it from the email address on your account if you can, and include the phone number or username on the account. We will ask you to confirm the request comes from the account holder before we delete anything, and we will reply to tell you when it is done.

What happens straight away

  • Your account is disabled, you are signed out on every device, and the account cannot be signed in to again.
  • Your profile is removed from discovery and search, and other people can no longer open it.
  • Your posts and comments are hidden from everyone.
  • Your progress photos, and the image files stored for them, are deleted.
  • If you are a personal trainer, your personal trainer profile is unpublished and your services stop taking new bookings.
  • A business or community you own is transferred or closed, as you chose when deleting — see below.

What is deleted permanently

30 days after you delete your account, the account and the personal information linked to it are permanently deleted from our systems, except the information described under What we keep. That means:

  • your name, email address, phone number, password, sign-in methods, profile, preferences and settings are erased;
  • your posts, reviews, likes, poll votes and saved posts are deleted, and you are removed from communities, activities and events you joined;
  • activities and events you organised are deleted, unless someone has a booking for them;
  • your connections, follows and blocks, notifications and devices are deleted;
  • the fitness information you recorded — workout logs, body measurements, progress photos, and the check-ins and assessments you submitted — is deleted;
  • if you are a personal trainer, your profile text and photo, certifications and verification documents, schedule, and the workouts, programmes and templates you created are deleted;
  • the text and attachments of comments and messages you sent are erased, and they show as deleted in the conversations they were part of;
  • the files you uploaded — such as your profile photo and the photos in your posts — are deleted, unless a file is part of something we keep, such as a logo you uploaded for a business.

Until then the account stays disabled and your profile stays hidden. Reviews you wrote, and messages you sent, stay visible to the people who could already see them until they are deleted.

What we keep

Deleting your account does not delete everything in 30 days. These records are kept for the periods shown, with your name and contact details removed wherever they are not needed:

  • Records a gym, studio or personal trainer created about you — their notes, the goals they set, your membership details — are kept while you are their member or client and for two years after that ends. They belong to the business or personal trainer, who can delete them sooner: ask them, or email support@fitnesta.com. Deleting your Fitnesta account removes the link to your account and the details that came from it.
  • Attendance, class and booking history that is not needed for accounts: two years after the class or session.
  • Payment and accounting records — payments, refunds, paid bookings and a business’s record of your charges: eight financial years. Notes and anything else not needed for accounts are removed earlier.
  • Reports and moderation records: two years after the report is closed.
  • The record of the terms you accepted and the consents you gave or withdrew: three years after your account is erased.
  • A record that your phone number opted out of WhatsApp reminders: until that number opts back in, so that the opt-out keeps working.
  • An empty placeholder for your account, with no name, contact details or profile, so that the records above still hold together: up to three years after your account is erased, or for as long as one of those records — or a comment other people replied to — still depends on it. It cannot be signed in to and nobody can see it.

We ask our analytics provider to delete the usage events linked to you; it does so on its own schedule, not instantly. Database backups made by our hosting provider can contain deleted information until they expire, and a deleted account stays deleted if a backup is restored. We may keep specific information for longer where the law requires it or while a dispute, investigation or legal claim is open.

If you own a business, a community or a personal trainer workspace

Owning something never stops you deleting your account. When you delete it, the app asks what should happen to each business or community you own:

  • Transfer it to an admin or manager already on the team (for a community, an active member). They become the owner, and it carries on without you.
  • Close it. You do not need anyone to hand it to.

A business you are the only owner of needs one of these choices before the account can be deleted. A community you leave undecided is closed when your account is erased, 30 days after you delete it. A personal trainer workspace cannot be transferred and is closed.

When a business is closed it leaves search, stops taking bookings, its upcoming classes are cancelled, its classes, plans and automations are switched off, and its staff lose access. Its records are then kept only for the periods under What we keep: member and client records for two years from the closure, attendance for two years, payment and accounting records for eight financial years, and communications opt-outs for as long as they stand. What remains is deleted when nothing still depends on it.

If you delete your account by email, tell us which you want for each business or community.

Changing your mind

A deleted account cannot be signed in to or restored from the app. If you deleted your account by mistake, email support@fitnesta.com as soon as possible.
